In 2009, the Highland Park Community Foundation provided grants totaling $114,000 to the following organizations. Our goal is to provide funding for special programs and initiatives that otherwise would not have been funded. As noted below, we have provided grants to several of these organizations for more than 10 years.
 

Art Center of Highland Park
(since 1995)
Scholarships to stimulate development of marketable art skills.
Anti Defamation League/HPHS
(new)
Helps fund “Names” program for class of 2010.
Big Brothers, Big Sister
(since 2006)
Matches adult mentors one-on-one with at-risk youths.
College Bound Opportunities
(new)
Coaches first generation HPHS students for college.
East on Central
(3rd year)

Funding for “creative encounters” among Highland Park writers and artists.

Provides academic assistance and mentoring for Latino middle school student by HPHS student mentors.

Family Network
(since 1996)
Child development and parental support for needy HP/Highwood families.
Family Services of South Lake County
(since 1999)
Bi-lingual and bi-cultural family resources and counseling.
Family Services/Nuestro Center

Community resources, referrals and programs for families in North Shore Estates.

Highland Park/Highwood Home Child Care Association
(since 1997)

Day care scholarships for children of students pursuing high school diplomas or advanced degrees.

Highland Park Library (new) English-as-second language and Spanish language materials.
Homework Club/HPHS (new) Academic assistance, skill development, and test prep.
Lutz Family Center/JCYS
(new)
Scholarships for day, after school care & summer camps.
Music Institute of Highland Park
(since 2006)
Music education and arts therapy scholarships.
National Hispanic Leadership Institute
(since 2001)

Provides tuition for several HPHS students to attend college campus leadership programs.

Pilgrim Chamber Players
(new)
Helps fund “Stars of Tomorrow” free concert.
Senior Services Program

In-home services by Catholic Charities for HP seniors.
Service Learning Program
(since 2005)
Funding for St. James School studentsʼ community service projects.

Sunday Soccer & Dance Club

Tri-Con Child Care Center

Bi-lingual day care for low income pre-school children.
Volunteer Pool of Highland
(3rd year)
Grants to promote volunteerism in school and the community.
Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center
(since 2006)
Sexual assault prevention and education for district 112 students.
Affiliated Funds
Jens Jensen Park Restoration The foundation has become the trustee for the effort of the Friends of Jens Jensen and the Park District to restore the Jensen Park in downtown Ravinia. Once the restoration is completed, we will manage the funds set aside for maintenance.
Niki L. Martin Scholarship Fund The Niki L. Martin Scholarship was established to honor a remarkable young woman's memory in perpetuity while empowering other young women to pursue their dreams in journalism.

Rosenblit "Lectures on Counseling" The Rosenblit Counseling Program subsidizes counseling for individuals on an as needed basis at the Joslyn Clinic.
